ALBANY COUNTY, WYOMINGby Tom AshworthIn the southwestern part of Albany County the placers were found along Douglas Creek in 1868. Later lode veins were discovered and they yielded copper, silver and gold. The total production is well over 10,000 ounces and the fact that the district has been idle since 1900 should interest the amateur prospector. Lake Creek and Muddy CreekReported By: Cheyenne MikeLake Creek and Muddy Creek, near their junction with Douglas Creek have also been known to produce gold and claims still exist. There are unclaimed areas to prospect. |
