Fauquier County Virginia

by Tom Ashworth

There are many areas in the southern tip of the county near Morrisville, Sumerduck and Pineview that would be worth exploring. All the South flowing streams is what I would check out.

Morrisville

Northeast of Morrisville 2.3 miles, on a 594 acre tract of land along a dirt road off Rout 634, about 1.6 miles east of its junction with Route 806 is the Franklin Mine. The Franklin Mine is one of the most notable lode gold mines in Virginia. It was operated from 1837 until 1877, when it caved in.
