K-15B GLORY HOLE CLAIMSLOCATIONRIVER:Klamath RiverCOUNTY:Siskiyou CountySTATE:CaliforniaThe down river boundary is located one mile upriver from the confluence of Thompson Creek. Tim's Creek is the lower boundary of the Glory Hole Claims. There is a river access road located several hundred yards up river from Tim's Creek. Watch for a private home located between Hwy. 96 and the river. Stay on the upper access roads to avoid disturbing their privacy. Be careful not to block the access road to the private property. The upper access road runs parallel to Hwy. 96 for some distance and then turns down to the river. We have limited camping space down along the gravel bar. The road is narrow and bumpy. You should look first, before driving in - especially with a trailer. The upper end of the Glory Hole Claims is located approximately one mile further up river, and adjoins the private property associated alongside the next private home you will see between Hwy. 96 and the river. Look for the fence which surrounds a developed garden site. This fence marks the boundary, along with our boundary sign posted on a tree. There are numerous developed paths and trails leading from Hwy. 96 into the Glory Hole Claims. PROSPECTSThis is one of the richest claims owned by the club, and has provided hundreds of ounces of gold to members during past years. Much of the river has been dredge on these claims, and a large portion of the bank on the Hwy. 96 side of the river has been mined. The far bank remains relatively undisturbed because access requires a boat. Bedrock, or false bedrock, is generally shallow on these claims. A good portion of the lower claims has not been dredged yet - the portion from the drive down river access to Tim's Creek. Therefore, it is likely that rich deposits still remain in place for the finding, both in the river, and all along the far bank. |
