K-18 GORDON'S FERRY CLAIMLOCATIONRIVER:Klamath RiverCOUNTY:Siskiyou CountySTATE:CaliforniaLocated by driving up river from Happy Camp on Hwy. 96 a distance of 2.3 miles from Davis Road to Gordon's Ferry Road. Follow Gordon's Ferry Road, watching for signs that will direct you to the river access - which is on the claim. The road turns to gravel and branches off to driveways for different private properties - stay on the main road. Eventually, the road splits, with club claim signs pointing in both directions. The right hand road leads to a primitive river access further down on the claim. The left hand road leads to a developed river access. We have a campground at this location. The up river claim boundary is located approximately 300 yards up river from the developed river access. The down river boundary is located approximately .5 miles down river and has a boundary sign posted on a tree. Private property is located on the far bank, but there is some limited access. PROSPECTSThis is a very proven gold rich section of the Klamath River, with gold mining history going back to the very early days. A large amount of gold has been located by members all over this claim, on both sides of the river and the middle. Presently there have been very many dredges working the far bank across from the developed river access, up stream from the first set of rapids. The lower end of the claim has not been adequately tested, but should contain rich deposits, since rich deposits were also located on the claim just below. Bedrock can be shallow or deep, depending upon where you mine on the claim. |
