K-19 MORGAN POINT CLAIMSLOCATIONRIVER:Klamath RiverCOUNTY:Siskiyou CountySTATE:CaliforniaLocated 4.7 miles up river on China Grade Road from the Klamath River Bridge, just below Happy Camp. China Grade Road is on the opposite side of the Klamath River from Hwy. 96. You find it by crossing the Klamath River bridge, just up river from the Indian Creek confluence, and turning left. Our river access and small campground is located at the 4.7 mile distance. The up river claim boundary and access is .1 miles further up stream. The lower boundary marker is on a tree alongside the road. Private property is located on the far side of the river, so access is available only from China Grade Road. PROSPECTSBedrock is showing all over the claim, so can be found also very shallow in the gravels. Very little testing has been done. However, the claim just up river provided excellent gold deposits to dredgers, with many ounces recovered. In fact, the owners of the claim above wanted to buy this claim because they felt the prospects for gold recovery look so promising. I have found a 2 Dwt. nugget on this claim. This claim has lots of snakes, but I saw none of the poisonous variety. |
