K-20 RICHARDSON BEDROCK CLAIMLOCATIONRIVER:Klamath RiverCOUNTY:Siskiyou CountySTATE:CaliforniaThe down river boundary is located 1.2 miles up river from Happy Camp intersection of Davis Rd. and Hwy. 96. Up river boundary is .7 mile upstream from lower boundary, at the confluence of Cade Creek, which is just down stream from the Angler's Motel. The far side of the river is private property owned by the local tribe. Access must be made from the Hwy. 96 side of the river. There is a good trail leading to the rive from a road pull off toward the upper end of claim. Some members have floated their dredges up onto the claim from the gravel bar located just down stream - which has an access road from Hwy. 96 just down river from the old bulk plant. PROSPECTSMembers have found gold by dredging on the Hwy. 96 side of the river, toward the channel. Bedrock is shallow on this side of the river and has cracks and irregularities which contain flakes and nuggets. Only a small amount of work has been done. Best results have been obtained near where the exposed bedrock meets the gravel, out towards the river channel. A few test holes have been dredged towards the far bank with some recovery of fine gold. More testing needs to be done on this claim. |
