K-25A LOWER PORTION OF LOWER INDEPENDENCE CAYON CLAIM

LOCATION

RIVER:Klamath River

COUNTY:Siskiyou County

STATE:California

This is the lower portion of K-25, and not very much is known about this portion of the claim. The lower boundary sign is posted on a tree alongside Hwy. 96 about 250 yards from Swillup Creek. A short distance up river is the Coon Creek Forestry river access. Because the access receives a lot of use from rafters, the Forest Service has asked us not to park or camp down on the river access. There is a small camping area just downriver from the river access, up into Coon Creek on a short dead end road. The upper claim boundary is marked alongside the river just downriver from the private property near Ukonom Creek.

PROSPECTS

Gold has also been found on the lower end of the claim, with the adjoining claims below Swillup Creek producing rich dredging deposits, as well.
