K-26 AUBREY CREEK CLAIMS

Are located 18.5 miles downriver from Happy Camp, or about 2 miles downriver from the Coon Creek river access. Both upper and lower boundaries have been clearly posted. There is an access road which parallels Hwy. 96 that has several good camping areas, with trails leading to the river. Across Hwy.96 is an old hydraulic mining cut which is part of the claim, and a popular location for metal detecting in search of gold nuggets.

PROSPECTS

Somewhat unknown due to lack of club member sampling and mining on this claim. However, very rich deposits have been dredged from the river just upstream near Cottage Grove. Therefore it is reasonable to assume the deposits will also be located on this claim. Electronic detectors have located gold nuggets in the old hydraulic mining area and successful highbanking has been done on the gravel bar toward the upper end of the claim.
