SCOTT RIVER CLAIM

LOCATION

RIVER:Scott River

COUNTY:Siskiyou County

STATE:California

Is located at the confluence of the Klamath and Scott Rivers. You can see the site where Hwy. 96 bridge crosses the Scott River. It is 28 patented acres at the old site of a town named Steelhead. No facilities or caretaker, but plans are underway for bathrooms, showers, clubhouse, dump station and well. Dredging on both the Scott and Klamath Rivers, highbanking, and sluicing.

PROSPECTS

This past year (1997) a friend of mine found 18 ounces of coarse nugget type gold on the inside bend on the Scott River above where the Hwy. 96 bridge crosses the Scott and below where the old bridge is on Scott River road. This particular location was a big strike and had as many as 13 dredges working this bar. There was lots of discussions (ha ha) about clouding each other out. This was a situation in which the LDMA should have had rules about clouding each other out or how close you could get to someone that was already there. My friend made the strike and told a few people and then everyone started stacking dredges around him. This claim should be a good producer High Banking in the bar in the bend. I did not see any one doing any high banking.
